International

Status: YELLOW

  • Transpacific: Demand for essential commodities related to COVID-19 remains high.  Many non-essential businesses are canceling purchase orders due to temporary closures. Therefore, overall demand has decreased and ocean carriers are likely to introduce blank sailings in April and May to stay aligned with the current demand.  This will likely remove about 25-30% of capacity from the market.
  • US West Coast ports are experiencing increased activity compared to this time last year. However, that is expected to be temporary as demand will drop in May/June.

Domestic

Status: YELLOW

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has made a significant impact to our nation’s supply chain.  A depleted supply chain has led to shrinking demand across most modes throughout our network.
  • These trends have caused several of our key transportation partners to modify their operating schedules.  While our partners are committed to maintaining the integrity of their operation, some schedules and services are inevitably being affected.
  • Our ground linehaul network partners are limiting operating hours in those areas impacted most from reduced demand.  Therefore, standard lock-out times may be moved up and recovery times may be pushed back in accordance with the changes.
  • Reduced flight schedules have forced commercial and cargo aircraft carriers to make adjustments to their operating hours as well. The limited cargo facilities hours of operation will temporarily reduce lock-out and recovery times as well.
  • Please consider these changes when scheduling pickup times and determining delivery windows.
  • Please be aware that the integrators (FedEx and UPS) are waiving required signatures in most cases during this pandemic citing safety concerns for their employees and customers.  If you ship directly with FedEx or UPS it could be a problem if you require the consignees signature as proof of delivery.
